Nirvana was the famous American grunge band fronted by singer and guitarist Kurt Cobain, bassist Krist Novoselic and eventually Dave Grohl on drums who is now famous for his band the Foo Fighters. Nirvana built up a loyal following of fans, but it wasn’t until the release of their second album Nevermind in 1991 that they came to the attention of a wider majority, particularly with their single Smells Like Teen Spirit. It was this release that helped other bands such as Soundgarden and Pearl Jam achieve more mainstream success, with alternative rock getting more airplay on the radio than ever before. Nirvana has sold over 50 million albums worldwide. Some of Nirvana’s songs include About A Girl, Come As You Are, Heart Shaped Box, In Bloom, Lithium, Penny Royal Tea, Smells Like Teen Spirit and Territorial Pissings.
