Eva Cassidy was an American singer known for her impressive vocal range that tended to focus on the musical styles of jazz, blues, folk, gospel, country and pop. Eva Cassidy was largely an unknown artist outside her native state of Washington DC until after she died in 1996. It was in the year 2000 that Eva Cassidy’s music started to gain wider recognition when her versions of "Over the Rainbow" and "Fields of Gold" were played on BBC Radio 2. This was met with an overwhelming response, leading to the release of the compilation album Songbird, which reached the top of the UK Albums Charts. Soon after this, the album gained further recognition worldwide. Some of Eva Cassidy’s songs include Over The Rainbow and People Get Ready.
